"Who I am"

Hong Kong Adventist College (HKAC) recently wrapped up a deeply meaningful and highly engaging Week of Spiritual Emphasis (WSE), guided by Chaplain Pr. Twinky Lau and led in partnership with Religion Major students and two Student Ambassadors from the United States. This year’s theme, “Who Am I,” invited students to explore questions of identity, purpose, and spiritual grounding topics especially resonant for youth navigating formative years.

A Week Designed for Youth Engagement

Throughout the week, students participated in a series of interactive sessions, creative activities, and in-depth discussions of faith. The program design intentionally matched the energy, curiosity, and developmental needs of young people, making each session both accessible and impactful. The Religion Major students and the visiting ambassadors brought fresh perspectives, relatable testimonies, and dynamic leadership that helped students connect deeply with the message.

Exploring Identity Through Faith

The central message “discovering one’s identity” was woven into every activity. Students were encouraged to reflect on who they are beyond academics, expectations, and social pressures. Through music, storytelling, and guided reflection, the week emphasized that identity is rooted in faith, purpose, and a personal relationship with God.

Strong Spiritual Response from Students

The Week of Spiritual Emphasis is widely considered one of the most successful in recent years. A post-event survey revealed remarkable outcomes among the 162 participants:

• 53% expressed interest in joining Bible study groups

• 16% accepted Jesus as their Savior and indicated willingness to be baptized

These numbers reflect not only strong engagement but also genuine spiritual transformation sparked by the week’s activities.

Continuing the Journey: Bible Study Groups

Following the event, Chaplain Pr. Twinky Lau has coordinated with Adventist teachers to launch Bible study groups for interested students. These groups aim to nurture the spiritual momentum from WSE, providing ongoing support, mentorship, and opportunities for deeper exploration of faith.

The 2026 Week of Spiritual Emphasis stands as a testament to HKAC’s commitment to holistic education, cultivating not only academic excellence but also spiritual growth, character formation, and community belonging. The theme “Who Am I” has left a lasting imprint on students, empowering them to continue discovering their identity with confidence and faith.
