TWO-YEAR DIPLOMA IN LIBERAL ARTS

The two-year diploma in Liberal Arts is provided by the Hong Kong Adventist College. Hong Kong Adventist College (HKAC), established in 1903, is a four-year liberal arts college founded and supported by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It has a strong tradition of providing quality education with an emphasis on developing the potential of the whole person. The integration of faith and learning provides a unique academic environment for students from a variety of cultures and religious backgrounds.

A student, who plans to complete a two-year diploma in Liberal Arts, must complete 21 quarter hours in communication skills, 20 quarter hours in life in society, 12 quarter hours in religion, and 43 quarter hours in electives. In planning his/her class work, the student needs to ensure that the general studies requirements are covered.

Life in Society (20 Credits)
Choose courses from at least two of the following areas:

• Fine Arts (Art, Music)
• History
• Literature
• Science (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics)
• Social Science (Anthropology, Economics, Psychology, Sociology)

Religion (12 Credits)

Electives (43 Credits)

 

Entry Requirements: For admission, a student must attain one of the following requirements:

• Completion of secondary school studies:
  - Grade 12: or equivalent with an overall GPA of 2.25 from an accredited /registered secondary school
  - Form 6: Successful completion of Form 6 (including passes in English and Chinese Language)

• Hong Kong Adventist College Foundation Program: Overall GPA of 2.50 and passing all classes

• HKALE: Obtain “E” in one HKALE AL subject or “E” in two HKALE AS subjects (including passes in English and Chinese Language)

• Mature Student: Applicants of HKCEE level (over 23 of age by 1 September of the year of admission), who do not meet any of the above requirements will be reviewed for provisional admission on an individual basis
